1962 - a star is born
Inspired by the traditional Japanese Zori sandals, the name "Havaianas" means "Hawaiians" in Portuguese, evoking the tropical, floral, endless-summer vibe of the brand.

1969 - more colors of flip flops
At first, Havaianas were only available in blue and white. But a production error led to a batch of green sandals. The reaction was so positive that we started producing the Top, with all the colorful flip flops the brand is known for.

1998 - Brazilian passion
To celebrate the ’98 World Soccer Championship, we launched the 'Havaianas Brazil” – a style with a small Brazilian flag on the strap. It still remains one of the best-selling flip flops globally.
